Italian Air Force deploys four Typhoons to Poland for NATO Baltic Air Policing
Italian Air Force F-2000A Typhoon arrives at the 22nd Tactical Air Base in Malbork, north-east of Poland. |
The Italian Air Force yesterday deployed four Eurofighter Typhoon multirole aircraft at the 22nd Tactical Air Base in Malbork, north-east of Poland, as part of NATO Baltic Air Policing (NBAP).
This marks the first such mission to Poland for Italian Typhoon jets as they previously provided protection to the Baltic States operating from Estonia and Lithuania.
Contrary to what has been written by various media, this deployment is not connected to the war between Russia and Ukraine as it was planned long before the start of the conflict. It aims to strengthen relations between Italy and Poland in the NATO context.

Thanks to this deployment, the Polish Air Force will have the great opportunity to interact and learn more about the advanced fighter built by the companies of the Eurofighter consortium (Leonardo, BAE Systems and Airbus).
As we have underlined earlier, Poland is looking with great interest at the Typhoon as part of the modernization process of its Armed Forces.
