Indonesia is reported to have purchased six Rafale multi-role combat aircraft from French manufacturer Dassault Aviation. According to some French media, the Ministry of Defense of Indonesia has committed a budget of almost 600 million dollars for the purchase of the new fighters which also includes the procurement of 24 Boeing F-15EX Eagle IIs. We had already talked about this possible deal at the end of 2020.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the French Armed Forces, Florence Parly, begins her official visit to Indonesia today. While there she could define a much broader order with Jakarta than, according to a Letter of Intent signed last year, could include up to 36 Rafales.
This deal marks a new success for the Rafale fighter which has achieved a record sales in recent years. The last of which concerns the deal for 80 aircraft that France and the UAE finalized in December last year.
