On June 27, 2018, two Spanish Air Force Eurofighter aircraft crossed the country's borders to Morocco for the first time to participate in the exercise Atlas 18.

The Spanish fighters belonging to Ala 11 took off from Moron air base to perform a combined mission with the Royal Moroccan Air Force Mirage F-1 fighter jets. The mission also included approaches to the air bases of Meknès and Sidi Slimane.

During the Atlas 18, the Eurofighter together with the Hornets belonging to Wing 16 of Gando, conducted an air combat training program with the Moroccan fighters.

The exercise Atlas has been running since 1987 and takes place every two years, alternately in Spain and Morocco. Its purpose is to conduct combined operations of air strikes and air defense, as well as strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
