SPANISH AIR FORCE: GOODBYE BOEING 707

Il 27 Settembre scorso, presso la base aerea di Torrejon (Madrid), è stato celebrato l’addio al T-17, l’ultimo Boeing 707 operativo dell’Aeronautica Militare Spagnola.
La cerimonia è stata presieduta dal Capo di Stato Maggiore dell'Aeronautica Generale F. Javier GarcÃa Arnaiz, accompagnato dal Comandante delle Forze Aeree Generale Jose Maria Salom Piqueres, dal comandante del 47° Gruppo Colonnello Jose Vicente Guerrero Nieto e da ex appartenenti al gruppo stesso.
Il Colonnello Nieto ha dichiarato che “il Boeing 707 si è dimostrata una piattaforma efficiente, durevole e affidabile, tutti questi risultati non sarebbero stati possibili senza lo sforzo di molti uomini e donne dell’armata, il loro duro lavoro ha contribuito al buon esito di tutte le missioni assegnate. " Ha inoltre sottolineato la sensazione condivisa da tutti coloro che hanno volato il T-17 " sono onorato ed orgoglioso di avere avuto l’opportunità di pilotare tale aereo che fa parte della storia dell’aviazione mondiale e da oggi anche dell’aviazione spagnola”.
Il colonnello ha concluso il suo intervento con una personale riflessione: «Arriveranno altri velivoli a sostituzione del T-17, senza dubbio più moderni e con caratteristiche migliori, ma per coloro che hanno volato il T-17 sono certo che mancherà la soddisfazione che si prova nel dominare un tale ferro da stiro. "
Dopo aver cantato l'inno dell’Aeronautica Spagnola ed eseguito l’omaggio ai caduti in servizio, la cerimonia militare si è conclusa con la sfilata di forze terrestri, preceduta dal sorvolo del T.17 scortato da due F-18 dell’Ala 12.

Durante il suo rientro nel piazzale della base, il T-17 ha attraversato l’arco formato dal getto d’acqua di due mezzi antincendio, uno dei momenti più emozionanti della giornata.
Il Gen. Javier ha infine posizionato una corona di alloro sul muso di quello che oggi è divenuto parte della storia dell’aviazione spagnola.
In sintesi il T-17 ha effettuato 35.800 ore di volo, trasportando oltre 200.000 passeggeri e 200 tonnellate di carico, sfiorando inoltre le 1.000 missioni di rifornimento in volo.

After singing the hymn Spanish Air Force and performed a tribute to those who died in service, the military ceremony ended with a parade of ground forces, preceded by T.17 fly-by escorted by two F-18 from 12th Wing .
During the return to the parking of the base, the T-17 went through the arch formed by the water jet of two fire trucks, one of the most exciting moments of the day.
Gen. Javier finally placed a laurel wreath on the front of what is now become part of the Spanish aviation history.
In summary, the T-17 performed 35,800 hours of flight, transporting more than 200,000 passengers and 200 tons of cargo, also touching the 1,000 in-flight refueling missions.
