On March 2, 2016, a Polish Air Force pilot flew for the first time the T-346A advanced training jet at the Galatina air base, Italy.

Poland has chosen to train its first pilots for the M-346 at the 61st Wing of the Italian Air Force.

The Polish officer made his maiden flight together with a test pilot from the Italian aerospace company Finmeccanica.

The activities started on 30 November and are divided into two phases: the first one is managed directly by Finmeccanica and includes training on the Ground Based Training System, and in-flight activities.

The second phase includes further flight activities together with the pilots of the 212st Flight Group of the 61st Wing.

When Polish pilots will receive the qualification, they will start training other instructors and students directly at home.

This activity marks another important step for the internationalization process of the Italian Air Force flight school and the introduction of the T-346A in the military pilots training.

Currently the nations present in Galatina, in addition to Poland, are: Argentina, Austria, France, Greece, Kuwait, the Netherlands and Singapore. This confirms how the 61st Wing is becoming an excellence in the field of advanced training on military flight.
