The Italian Air Force kicked off Monday the Typhoon Flag 23 air exercise that will take place for two weeks at Grosseto Air Base, Tuscany, Italy. It is an annual training activity focused on the Squadrons of the Italian Air Force equipped with Eurofighter Typhoons.
The four Squadrons responsible for Air Defense (4° Stormo, 36° Stormo, 37° Stormo and 51° Stormo) will participate in the exercise with their own aircraft and personnel, with the aim of carrying out advanced pilot training in complex operational scenarios, as well as developing advanced tactics for using the Meteor missile in a simulated way.
The Weapons Instructors trained last year will share what they learned in the previous Typhoon Flag and in the further exercises in which the Air Force took part, in order to train the younger pilots in the tactics and techniques of use of the various systems involved.
The Typhoon Flag 23 offers a great opportunity for the standardization of operational and maintenance procedures among the various Squadrons, the achievement of training objectives at various levels, the consolidation of the operational tactics of the entire "Eurofighter Community", increasing the spirit of cooperation and sharing.
The flight activity will be carried out in compliance with the rules governing Flight Safety and in compliance with all the procedures necessary to minimize any inconvenience to citizens as much as possible. It will be carried out mainly in the airspace above Grosseto and the Tyrrhenian Sea, from Monday to Friday and with a timetable that can last until late afternoon. There will be no additional nighttime activity to the standard weekly one.
