Colombia announces failure of agreement for 16 Rafales

The government of Colombia has not finalized the 3 billion euro deal with Dassault for the purchase of 16 Rafale fighters, the Colombian defense ministry said.
The official announcement about the choice of the French-made aircraft was disclosed last December and the finalization of the contract was expected by the end of 2022.
The National Council on Economic and Social Policy (CONPES) had already approved the budget for the purchase of the Rafales. The Colombian government will evaluate whether to consider Dassault's proposal again in the near future.
It seems that Colombia's plan to buy a first batch of 3 or 4 jets did not please Dassault which is interested in selling the entire batch of 16 aircraft at once.
