The strategic collaboration between the Aviazione dell'Esercito Italiano - AVES (Italian Army Aviation), the Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF) and Leonardo has made it possible to achieve 2,000 flight hours in training Qatar crews aboard the NH-90 helicopter.

The training of Qatari personnel is one of the flagship activities of the Aviazione dell'Esercito Italiano and confirms its role as an international flight school for military helicopters. This ability was underlined by the AVES Commander, General Andrea Di Stasio, during a certification ceremony at the end of the courses. "The experiences with Qatar today, together with those of the past in favor of various allied countries, to which Austria will be added in the future for the LUH (Light Utliity Helicopter), demonstrate the international value of the Aviazione dell'Esercito Italiano in military flight training, as a keystone for building international partnerships and collaborations in the military field."

The event was also attended by Engineer Fabrizio Peano, Head of Training Academy of Leonardo's Helicopter Division who, during his speech, said: "we are pleased to contribute to the success of this important helicopter program for Qatar through the supply of helicopters but also of the related training services thanks to strong synergies with the Italian Army. In this way, we are able to transfer from Italy, together with the national Armed Forces, a unique operational experience to the end user."

Colonel QAEF Hamad Al Hajri, Senior Qatar Officer Representative in Italy, thanked the Aviazione dell'Esercito Italiano and Leonardo for their invaluable support, expressing satisfaction with the high level of training achieved by their flight crews.

The overall commitment, in the three years since the launch of the "Qatar Program", has allowed the achievement of 2,000 hours of flight time on the NH-90 helicopter in the land variant, in addition to a further 2,500 hours on the flight simulator. The Aviazione dell'Esercito Italiano has been able to transfer the knowledge acquired in the many experiences in operational theater, thus making available to foreign colleagues a "gymnasium" on the military use of the aircraft inspired by maximum realism.
