Dutch Air Force says goodbye to Chinook D
The last RNLAF CH-47 Chinook D flies its last mission. |
On Wednesday December 22, 2021, the very last Boeing CH-47 Chinook type D (Delta) was taken out of service by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The 298 squadron from Gilze-Rijen Air Base, arrived with the very last flying Chinook D (D-667, with matching callsign "Grizzly47D") to the GLV5 training area near Oirschot.
There were around 75 photographers present to capture the last flight of this helicopter.

The existing 11 CH-47Ds will be replaced by 14 new CH-47F MYII CAAS (Common Avionics Architecture System) aircraft. This brings the total to 20 pieces. Because the 6 existing CH-47F aircraft are being modernized and brought to the same CH-47F MYII CAAS standard as the rest of the fleet.
