New problems for F-35 in Switzerland, Government doubts evaluation process
Lockheed Martin F-35A stealth fighter. |
The Steering Committee of the Swiss National Council yesterday decided to examine some parameters used in the evaluation procedure for the new fighter aircraft for the Swiss Air Force.
The Committee aims to verify the adequacy of some points that have aroused criticism from public opinion. They believe that this approach is very important to legitimize the Federal Council's choice about the new fighter and to be able to continue the procurement process for the 36 Lockheed Martin F-35As.
Their purpose is to analyze the method used to evaluate all the aircraft involved in the tender (F-35, Rafale, Eurofighter and Super Hornet) and to investigate the allegations relating to the destruction of some Armasuisse (National Armaments Director) documents, as well as verify any political room for maneuver. and compliance with public procurement regulations.
That review will begin in February 2022.
