On 2 March 2021, a Wizz Air A320 landed at Kecskemet Air Force Base, Hungary, in order to test the ability of ground military personnel to provide assistance to the civilian aircraft and its crew and passengers. This test is the result of the agreement signed in September 2020 between the Hungarian Air Force for Home Defense and Wizz Air Hungary Zrt. which provides for the use of Kecskemet air base by the aircraft of the Hungarian airline company Wizz Air in case of failure.

The activity was attended by József Váradi, Wizz Air CEO and Major General Kilián, the inspector of the Hungarian Air Force for Home Defense, who verified the success of the operations.

The test involved refueling, even with passengers on board, and rapid disembarkation of passengers. Kecskemet personnel were supported by Wizz Air personnel during all activities. At the end of the exercise, the authorities congratulated all the military personnel for the excellent result achieved.

Since the beginning of 2018, Kecskemet has become home to two Hungarian Air Force Airbus A319 military transport aircraft. The great similarity they have with the A320 has certainly contributed to the success of the operation.
