Twelve ITAF Eurofighters train together to test operational effectiveness in complex scenarios.

On June 25, 2020, the Italian Air Force carried out a training exercise that involved twelve Eurofighters belonging to the 36th Wing at Gioia del Colle, a KC130 belonging to the 46th Air Brigade at Pisa, a G550 CAEW belonging to the 14th Wing at Pratica di Mare, Rome, and a team of Riflemen belonging to the 16th Wing for JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) activities. The exercise took place at Gioia del Colle AFB, southern Italy.

As part of a complex training, KC130 and CAEW have played a decisive role in the management of the tactical scenario and related communication devices. The KC130, which took off from Pisa AB, ensured air refueling to the Eurofighters allowing them to operate effectively for longer, while the CAEW controlled the training area.

The aim of this advanced training was to allow all the youngest military pilots belonging to the "Eurofighter Community" of the 36th Wing to face scenarios that are difficult to simulate within standard trainings, through a large use of modern tactical data link systems.
