On 24 June 2020 the demo pilots of the Italian Air Force/Reparto Sperimentale Volo (RSV) completed their training to be qualified to perform flight displays in public events, such as airshows, during 2020.
Like every year, the RSV celebrated the achievement by its pilots with an event at Pratica di Mare AFB, Rome, home of the Unit, which was also attended by the Undersecretary of Defense, Angelo Tofalo and the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Lt. Gen. Alberto Rosso.
For the occasion, the demo pilots showed their ability to push some of the most representative aircraft of the Italian Air Force to the limit: the C-27J, the M-346 and the F-2000 Typhoon. They highlighted the high technology of the aircraft through amazing aerobatic maneuvers. All the flown platforms are made in Italy, manufactured by the aerospace company Leonardo.
The RSV represents the perfect synergy between the flying skills of Italian pilots and national technological know-how.
To date, the RSV display schedule 2020 has not yet been released, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it may not perform this year.
