Leonardo Aircraft Division is conducting a new test campaign flying the experimental Eurofighter ISPA 4 (Instrumented Series Production Aircraft) from its test facility at Decimomannu Air Base.
Last December, the ISPA4 performed its first flight in the P3Eb (Phase 3 Enhancements Package b) - Entry Into Service configuration, a features package that will be installed on the first Eurofighters that will be delivered to the Kuwait Air Force.
The flight schedule to test and qualify this new configuration, for which the Leonardo’s IPA2 (Instrumented Production Aircraft) will also be used, will continue in the coming months and will involve up to 8 aircraft at the four Eurofighter Partner Companies. The main objective of this first ISPA4 flight campaign is to collect aerodynamic data regarding a new load configuration.
The P3Eb development program will further extend the operational potential of the Eurofighter Typhoon, making it capable of facing the new and changing global strategic challenges, confirming the Typhoon as the most advanced, safe and reliable multi-role aircraft on the market.
