AERO VODOCHODY AND IAI TO COOPERATE ON ADVANCED L-159 JET

They intend to enhance the position of the aircraft in the light attack market.

Aero Vodochody and IAI to cooperate on advanced L-159 jet.

Czech Republic-based Aero Vodochody and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have partnered to develop and market an advanced version of the L-159 trainer and light attack jet.

The partners have agreed to integrate new state-of-the-art avionics and other solutions on the aircraft in order to enhance its position in the light attack market.

Aero Vodochody president & CEO Giuseppe Giordo said, "Together with IAI, Aero will be ready to offer aircraft with the best available technology. The agreement brings us together with a strong international partner with access to new potential customers."

Israel Aerospace Industries president & CEO Joseph Weiss said, "The cooperation with Aero Vodochody opens up new and exciting oppertunities by combininng the impressive proven performance of the L-159, with new innovative IAI systems, to provide customers with aircraft that meet their future requirements".

The L-159 can offer excellent performance as demonstrated by the aircraft belonging to the Draken International fleet. Currently the American company has based 11 L-159 jets to Nellis AFB to offer the US air forces support in the air combat exercises. Their "Red Air Fighters" face the most modern USAF fighters daily, such as the F-35 Lightening II and F-22 Raptor.
