According to the Chief of the Russian aerospace forces, Viktor Bondarev, the planes are different from the previous models with much greater manoeuvrability, making them ideal for aerobatics.

Bondarev added that he expects 20 to 24 units of the aircraft will be purchased each year, with another four SU-30SM fighters being transferred to the Russian Knights by the end of this year.

In the following year, tests of the fifth generation T-50 fighter jet are expected to be completed and the Russian Knights are to receive the first aircraft.

SOT, Viktor Bondarev, Commander of aerospace forces of the Russian Federation (Russian): "This is a fourth-generation aircraft with two advantages: it is a beautiful plane and similar versions performed well with combat units in Syria - both in the air and on the ground.

The aircraft with thrust vectoring is super-manoeuvrable, [in the past] there was not anything equal to the Su-27 in the world, I think there will not be anything equal to this aircraft for the next 10-15 years."
