ITALIAN EUROFIGHTERS TAKE OFF FOR US RED FLAG

Eight Eurofighter from 4th, 36th and 37th Wing took off today to Nellis AB (Nevada, USA) to take part in one of the largest exercises of 2016 called "Red Flag".

At the same time two KC-767A tanker aircraft took off from 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and three C-130J cargo aicraft from 46th Air Brigade of Pisa as support unit to cross the ocean.

In the coming weeks Italians Eurofighters, along with several aircraft of other nations including the United States and Turkey, will be engaged in complex aircraft scenarios during night and day. The main purpose is to train the Italian personnel in the planning and implementation, together with foreign colleagues, flying missions in complex operational scenarios.


Such training is also an important opportunity to develop the ability to deploy at long distances from Italy, environmentally often very different from those in the national territory, complex units capable of integrating effectively within modern operating contexts.

The "Red Flag" is air exercise in which pilots consolidate the employment capabilities of weapons systems provided and the validity of their tactics, through the organization and coordination of "packages" that contain a large number aircraft, while consolidating the ability to work together with other squadrons in air operations.
